The environment provides the following abilities:

• Selection of monitoring parameters (at application or operating system level) which are measured during the execution on a target system.
• Supports automatic instrumentation for the following instrumentation types: Operating System. Simple Timing. Double Timing. Code trace Point Watch Variable value
• Supports various colors (one color for each instrumentation type and mixing of these colors to points more than one instrumentation types on a single line) for highlighting the instrumented lines of the source code.
• Automatic saving of the original (Not Instrumented) source code.
• Optional selection of the operating system(EOS or other) and the target processor(ARM, SABC166 or other).
• Optional specification of Application’s Makefile if needed.
• Watching on screen the results of the monitoring process while the application is running on the target processor.
• Optional selection of the visible information produced on target system during the execution of the instrumented application.
• Capabilities such as creation of a new MAT project (*.mpr files which holds the needed information about an instrumented application), saving and updating of an existing project.
• Supports automatic selection of the needed operating system events in order to produce the appropriate information for the calculation of a set of desired metrics using a performance analysis tool (PAT).
• Direct execution of external tools such as compilers and downloaders inside MAT environment.
